ABOUT
Storytelling For Change

Alvaro Alvarez is a journalist, filmmaker, speaker and consultant with more than 15 years of experience in the field of communication. Born in Argentina and raised in Spain, Alvaro got his Bachelors degree in Media and Communication from the Complutense University in Madrid, and his Master's at the Autonoma University of the same city. After starting his career in the prestigious Spanish newspaper El Pais, he moved to London in 2011 to work for the BBC World Service.
Alvaro joined BBC Mundo (the BBC's Spanish Service) in 2011 and remained there for two years, covering Latin America for a global audience. He later joined the BBC's Digital Current Affairs, where he had the chance to work on current affairs issues and making international documentaries. His work has brought him to places like Cuba, China and Uganda, capturing the human stories behind the headlines. He also followed female truck drivers in Mexico, filmed K-Pop stars in South Korea, and covered young people using social media prior to South Africa's 2015 election.
In 2021 Alvaro bumped into a book with the title "degrowth" in it, and got completely fascinated. After delving deep into the issue, the result was a 25 minute documentary about degrowth in Barcelona that was broadcast by millions in the BBC World TV News Channel. The documentary
